The Scalene Escape
The architecture is named The Scalene Escape. It was designed with the intent of fusing farming
systems with a place of escape from the outside world. The form is made up of scalene triangles
which forms a ‘blanket’ with the intent of creating a division between the inner spacial experience
and the outer. The outer frame gives the architecture a structure, keeping it airy and light at the same
time. The height difference gives the user a feeling of entering into a new environment, separating
them from the outside world.
The architecture includes a hydroponics farm, 4 ‘escape’ pods and 2 venting pods. Everyone has
their own ways of expressing. The architecture provides one with different ways of ‘escaping’ and
this includes an ‘escape pod’ and a ‘venting pod’. The escape pod allows one to be alone in a
pod while the venting pod allows one to vent their anger on the padded walls provided.
Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) is used as the material for the ‘blanket’ as it creates separation but
the translucency of the material allows for a visual connection to the outside.
