Christopher Chong's Portfolio

Young Designer Award 2020 is a competition hosted by Design Intervention in which I emerged as one of the top 12 finalists. An existing floor plan was provided with structural walls indicated. We were tasked to redesign a 3000 sq. ft apartment located in downtown Singapore.

The style I chose was the mid-century modern interior design style. This style was chosen as it focuses mainly on minimalism, simplicity and the basic functionality of spaces. My design inspiration was wrapped around the idea of homeliness and how various spaces allowed for social gatherings and time spent with each family member. The unit was designed with the family's needs and hobbies in mind, following closely what they liked and disliked, making the apartment unit-specific only to the family.
